All About our Nicaragua Visit
We at HTN Global traveled to an undisclosed area in Nicaragua in March 2026. There, we worked with a local health care organization, which we cannot divulge due to political reasons. We augmented their milk and supplemental program aimed towards aiding malnourished children and educating parents of the importance of nutrition. The enrolled children are provided with milk, supplements, and other vital nourishment catered specifically to their condition every month.
Milk Program
The organization's "Progamma de Leche" is focused on providing malnourished children with the resources and care they need to become more healthy. This program also educates these children's parents on the various nuances and importance of nutrition and health.
Process
To see if a child is in need of this program, the child is evaluated by one of the program's doctors. They then are seen by the program's psychologist. Once in the program, the children receive milk and other supplements specific to their condition every month. They are weighed every 2 months.
Impact
Once a child is healthy, they graduate from the program! At the time of our mission, 19 children were enrolled in the program and over 165 had graduated! We heard the wonderful testimonies of many graduated families of this program that told of the great impact this program had on their children's health.
Alexa
We at HTN created a care package of rice, beans, vegetables, and fruit for Alexa, a child in the Milk program. Alexa has Cystic Fibrosis and at the time of this visit was 12 years old. When she was born, she was not expected to live long, but through the help of this program, she has continued to grow and become healthier. Te amo Alexa!
Sara and Margarita
Ruth is a mother to her two daughters Sara (6) and Margarita (4). At 3-4 years old, Sara was 30 pounds. At the time of our visit, Sara had been with the program for 2 years and 5 months and had become 38 pounds at 6 years old! Ruth says that its been a very hard but fruitful 2 years.
How We Provide
We at HTN Global raised money to provide the program with a 3 year, $9,000 grant ($3,000 per year). We hope to support and facilitate the growth and continuation of this amazing program. We hope that through this donation we can further aid children in need like Alexa and Sara. We love you guys!
